I swore I would never live in Wisconsin...but now I'm sort of glad I do.

"Gov. Blagojevich has taken us to a new low. This conduct would make [Abraham] Lincoln roll over in his grave."
~ U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald

It is a sad sad day for the state of Illinois. I can't even begin to wrap my mind around how someone could 1. think what Gov. Rod Blagojevich did was a good idea and 2. that they could get away with it. That's just totally ridiculous and disappointing.

I am normally very proud to be from Illinois. In fact, when traveling when people ask me where I'm from, I struggle to answer. I normally say, I live in Milwaukee but I'm from Chicago/Illinois. While I love the city of Milwaukee, it still pains me to say I'm from here. However, today's events have me almost embarrassed to say I'm from Illinois. Sure there are plenty of jokes about how Chicago and Illinois government are corrupt (heck, I even make some of them myself), but this takes things to a whole new low.

I just hope on the news for the next month they don't pronounce the 's'! Good luck, Illinois. I'd like to be able to return proud one day.
